As your therapist, my hope is to provide empowerment, education, and encouragement to build on your existing strengths. Within a comfortable and trusting environment, we can begin to break down barriers and faulty beliefs that hold you back. We will work towards new ways of thinking in order to move you forward to a place of hope and healing.
While it is important to me to offer an individualized experience, I practice from an Adlerian approach and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy techniques. Primary goals are understanding how the past influences the present, addressing unresolved issues, and creating solutions to overcome current challenges.
Self-care is a critical component in establishing a fulfilled self. When not practicing therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family, worshiping at church, salt water fishing, traveling, and exercising. These are just a few of the activities that help me in sustaining a healthy and fulfilled self.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE
After graduating from Angelo State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology, I continued my education by receiving a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#74775) in the State of Texas and have practiced in multiple settings including inpatient care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and private practice. My experience has been in providing mental health assessments/evaluations and providing individual counseling to men, women, and adolescents. I have a passion and interest in providing individual therapy to adults and adolescents struggling with Bipolar Disorder and Mood Disorders.
How long does therapy take?
Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
