Relationship Issues

Whatever your reasons for finding a therapist, I am glad that you have taken this step. As a client-centered therapist, I believe that you are a unique individual, and will make it my goal to help you live your best life.

We will focus on the challenges that are important to you and use a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for youth, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths-based techniques.

My role as a therapist is not to tell you what to do but to provide a safe space in which we will work together to navigate through the journey ahead. I believe in building a professional relationship in which you feel comfortable sorting through overwhelming or sensitive issues. Creating long-term change in therapy often requires hard work and happens slowly. You’re not alone in this process, however, and I am here to provide you with the tools and resources to make this change possible. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.

LICENCE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a double major in Psychology and Sociology and my Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#103516),  I have experience in a variety of areas within the field ranging from administrative work, research, psychological and neuropsychology testing, and clinical work.  My clinical experience includes working with adolescents and adults providing individual, family, and group therapy in the treatment of substance use and mental health issues.

What will my first therapy session be like?

After looking over your paperwork and informing you about confidentiality, you and your counselor will discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, and treatment goals. Your counselor will decide if they are the best clinician to meet your needs, and you will decide if your counselor is a comfortable fit.
